Kym spent her early twenties photographing weddings, a curious bystander to the connection, intimacy, and joy she was documenting. Her difficult upbringing set her on both a tumultuous journey of personal growth and a search for connection. Her work is inspired not only by that longing, but also by the deep passion, devotion, and peace that she has now in her life with Ryan. Before taking a break from Wedding Photography in 2020, Kym’s work was featured in various publications and she received several notable awards. This included being recognized by the Canadian Photo Convention as one of Canada’s top 30 under 30 wedding photographers in 2015 & 2016, and by Junebug Weddings as one of Ontario’s best wedding photographers from 2016-2019.
When she’s not photographing weddings you can find her laughing loudly (usually at herself), running with her dog, or enjoying time with her kids.
Ryan (Hunter R. Hennigar) attended Vancouver Film School and spent much of his early 20’s enjoying life on the West Coast. His film background brings a cinematic, storytelling approach to documenting weddings. When he moved back to Ontario he met Kym at a BBQ and the two bonded over their mutual love of writing, art, and all things geeky. The pair have been shooting weddings together, and working on various other creative projects since. These projects include Ryan’s debut novel, ‘Space Junk: Freight the Power’ and a trick-taking card game, ‘Ugly Christmas Sweaters’.
When Ryan isn’t creating things, he can be found making another cup of espresso, or sorting through his Magic: The Gathering collection.
